The Communication Suite pilot enables real-time videoconferences with a variable number of participants. Several services using different VNFs are required. We present here-under those VNFs grouped in three categories:

  • Media VNFs: the VNF which actually handle the real-time traffic.
  • Application VNFs: the VNF which supports the logic and the basic functions of the application.
  • Platform VNFs: these VNFs provide services such as database (DB) storage, queuing service, reverse proxy and firewall. These services are used by Media and WAC VNFs.

We plan to develop four scenarios for the deployment of the following use cases:

  • Centralized video-conference services,
  • Premium and best-effort QoS video-conference services,
  • Edge video-conference services,
  • Video-conference scaling out/in services.
